EARLY YEARS OVERVIEW     EARLY YEARS RESOURCES   Working with early years is fundamental to Music4U and continues to be one of its core objectives. During its first year it was responsible for creating Melody Monkey’s Marvellous Music Box, an innovative teaching resource for the under 5’s, allowing them to experience music and develop musical skills, both at home with their families and within Early Years groups in the region. The resource has been phenomenally successful and has since been adopted by Youth Music as a flagship project and also sold all over the country. Music4U is also working closely with Come and Play, a Youth Music initiative devised and delivered by 4Children (formerly Kids' Club Network) to develop innovative music-making programmes for children in after school clubs and holiday play schemes. Music making for the very young is also possible through the All Aboard! project. This project uses midicreator, a music technology device that translates physical movement into musical sounds. Following a successful pilot phase this project is now being rolled out across the Humber region. Also in 2007 a new early years project is being launched. Hopscotch is a new pilot project from Music4U, which will focus on encouraging and revitalising Playground Songs & Singing Games in primary school playgrounds across the region. Pilot project 2005-2006 Pilot project 2005-2006 Music workshops in nurseries Gamelan and Shadow Puppets at Ganton Special School November 2004 November 2004 A group of Key Stage 2 and 3 children from Ganton Special School in Hull took part in a music and puppet-making workshop in Autumn 2004. Come & Play Summer Workshops 25 Jul - 30 Aug 05 Music4U joined forces with the Come & Play initiative and set up a series of after school and summer workshops in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
